Hello

My name is Rachel Joy, the lettering artist behind sidejoy. I built a career crafting letters worldwide, all with the aim of spreading positivity.

In Feb 2025 I became a mum and had to put down my brushes for a while and focus on my new project.

During this time, in a very muddy brain, I kept dreaming about what else I could do with my letters that would fit this new chapter, and so sidejoy was born...

The letters

My work is rooted in the traditional craft of sign painting, inspired by my great-grandfather, who was a sign painter in Northern Ireland.

I use exaggerated and playful 3D forms, along with bold colour combinations, to build letters and phrases with joy at their heart.

The letters on the tshirts and sweatshirts are all mostly inspired by memories from my childhood, or playful things I've come across in recent years.

I hope that each purchase is a positive one, bringing colour and joy to the little soul wearing it.
